Day 1: The Beginning

Welcome to my affiliate marketing journey!

I'm excited to have you walk alongside me as I dive into the world of affiliate marketing, a path filled with opportunities and challenges. Today marks the beginning of this adventure, and I want to share my experiences, insights, and the lessons I'm learning along the way. Technically, this isn't day 1, however, I am currently beginning to follow through consistently as of about a week ago. Officially, this is Day 1 of committing to this blog regularly though.

Why Affiliate Marketing?

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of my journey, let's talk about why I've chosen affiliate marketing as my path to explore:

1. Low Barrier to Entry: Affiliate marketing doesn't require a substantial upfront investment. Such as this here! All you need is a computer, internet access, and a willingness to learn, mostly that is. I have made some small financial investments, but those are tiny and probably unnecessary to actually start with nothing other than the aforementioned.

2. Flexibility: It offers the freedom to work from anywhere and at your own pace. It's an ideal option for those seeking a flexible lifestyle that I love. My goal is to do exactly this, work from anywhere in the world that I choose to be at the time.

3. Passive Income Potential: When done right, affiliate marketing can generate passive income streams, allowing you to earn while you sleep. These couple of weeks that I have got started building things I have seen movement in my account activities but not any dollars earned currently. There is movement and promo clicks being acknowledged though so we'll see how quickly getting paid on these activities actually takes.

4. Learning Opportunity: Affiliate marketing is an ever-evolving field. It's a chance for me to acquire new skills, from digital marketing to data analysis. Some of these opportunities are free and some are low-cost courses. I have found different avenues so far. Some work and some are just spam-like!

Setting the Stage: Day 1

So, what did Day 1 of my affiliate marketing journey look like? When I say "Day 1" I'm really referring to Day 1 of the blog not necessarily Day 1. Day 1 of what I describe below began approximately 2 years ago but here's a snapshot:

1. Research: I began by diving into extensive research. I read articles, watched videos, and joined forums to understand the basics of affiliate marketing, from affiliate networks to marketing strategies. I joined so many that I don't even remember them all. Currently, there are certain platforms that I have chosen and that I am using daily.

2. Niche Selection: Selecting the right niche is crucial. I brainstormed potential niches, considering my interests, target audience, and market demand. There are certain avenues that I am testing to determine if they will profit me. This link leads to one of the niches that I am currently working.

3. Platform Exploration: I explored various affiliate marketing platforms and networks to identify potential partners and products to promote. Right now, I am partnered with 4 platforms that I am using several times a week. There should be some sign of how effective these will be for my success soon.

4. Setting Goals: I set clear, achievable goals for this journey. This includes both short-term and long-term objectives, such as the number of affiliate partnerships to establish and the income I aim to generate. As mentioned above, there are 4 current platforms that I am actively using regularly. My income goal currently is to see my 1st payments sent to me. I am waiting to notice the amount of income that I generate from my current actions.

5. Learning Resources: I bookmarked valuable resources and courses to deepen my knowledge and skill set as I progress. As I move along, I am deleting bookmarks that will not serve my goal and organizing those that serve my goals.

What's Next?

As I wrap up Day 1, I'm filled with excitement and a sense of purpose. But I'm also aware of the challenges that lie ahead. In the days to come, I'll be sharing my progress, my triumphs, and my setbacks.
